Dear Church Friends and Family:
Did you enjoy the ‘â€Cold Front Sunday†last week? As many of you know, heard, and experienced, we had a lesson given on taking someone for granted. Along with all of her recognized duties, Mrs. Vivian usually checks the propane to make sure that we can have warm facilities. Because of an unusually busy schedule, she was not able to look after that chore. The pastor, whose office is a lot closer to the tank, failed to check it either. You see, I took Mrs Vivian for granted. She always checks and I never thought about it. It is just like many other things around here that just seem to get done by somebody. Because these items are taken care of so well, we never give them a second thought until there is no heat.
This is how it is with God. He is so good at taking care of the things in our life that we begin to take Him for granted. We seem to forget how much He has given each of us. God has longingly provided a way of salvation through His Son. We have a wonderful country with the freedom to worship, the freedom to move about where we please, and the privilege to live in the wealthiest country in the world. God blesses us with each breath we take, our health, our homes – basically everything we possess. Yet we often neglect to thank Him for His mercy and loving kindness. Only when we realize that we have not checked the tank do we consider His generosity.
Let us learn something from our lesson on taking things for granted and give God the glory for the things He has done.
