July’s Letter from the Pastor

Dear Church Friends and Family:

As we celebrate the Fourth of July, our thoughts are drawn to the birth of our nation. We have been taught that our nation was built on Biblical principles and was done so by men who believed in God. All of this is true in spite of what some may say to try to convince us of at this time.

When I look back on the early days of our nation I am reminded of the early days of the nation of Israel after they had reached the Promised Land and Moses had died. Joshua was no in charge and would have to be the leader after Moses. God told him 3 times in chapter 1 of the book of Joshua, “be strong and of good courage…” He then told Joshua in v. 8, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

When we think of our nation and wonder where it is going we might consider this passage of God’s Word. Do we keep God’s word on our lips? Do we meditate on God’s Word day and night? Do we observe all that is written in it? If we answered no to any one of these questions we do not have to wonder why we do not seem to prosper and have good success.

The people of Israel responded when Joshua informed them of God’s challenge, “All that you command us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go… only be strong and of good courage” v, 16-18.

I believe that God is challenging His people to step up in a mighty way so that His power and authority can be shown to the world. What is the mighty way? By keeping His Word on our lips, meditating on His Holy Scriptures, and obeying His commands. Will we respond to God the way the Israelites did? May God bless each of you as you follow His guidance and direction.

Praying Always,

Brother Doug
