August Letter from the Pastor

Dear Church Family and Friends:

These are exciting times in the life of Iola Missionary Baptist Church! Vacation Bible School as as successful endeavor again this year with the children and the youth. Our Sunday School has had 70 or above for the past two Sundays. The worship services have been full with many new faces. The youth have returned from camp with a new commitment and excitement to service the Lord. Four have made professions of faith and seek baptism into the church and several made re-dedications. With a new school year about to start, we need to remember to pray and pray harder for the students, faculty, and administration of Iola Independent School District.

I would ask for prayers also for those on our prayer lists. We must keep lifting them up in our prayers daily, along with their families. God can and will work in mighty ways if we will only put our trust in Him and entrust to Him those in need.

We have also got to bathe our nation in prayer. Our government leaders are in very trying times with wars and the threats of more violence from hostile nations. The economy is not strong and unemployment increases are devastating. But we have hope in our Lord and Savior and we are to follow the example of 1 Thessalonians 5:16-22: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despite prophecies. Test tall things; hold fast to what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.”

Praying Always,

Brother Doug
