February Letter to the Pastor

Dear Church Family and Friends:

Can you believe that we are already entering the second month of the year 2013? In just over a month I will be traveling with my life-long friend, his wife, and a Filipino couple to the Philippines. We will be sharing with ministry students at Bible colleges, preaching in local churches, and speaking about the Lord and how He uses us for His ministry here in the States.

I as you to pray for us for safe travel, courage, a listening audience, and a stronger appreciation for God’s work.  As I have been thinking about going to a land that I know very little about, I am also concerned about the land in which we live.  I have read that schools in the United States will not let students talk about the Lord, carry their Bibles, and share Jesus with classmates.  The military is also working by blocking the service chaplains from sharing religious material with the troops.  Rules for viewing the Super Bowl at the church are also provided so that churches do not break the copyright laws concerning the rights of the NFL.  The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is the organization that organized and promoted the end-of-the-season game party idea and developed it so that churches could socialize, study Scriptures, and enjoy the Big Game together in order to grow closer to one another and to God.  Out nation’s Constitution states that we have the right of freedom of religion, but some want it to be freedom from religion.

When we look at some of the other countries of the world and see that the citizens in those countries are dying for their beliefs in god, and there is an American pastor in jail in Iran, the future of Christianity looks bleak.  But God’s Word says that ‘every knee will bow, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is the Lord.”  Remember when things begin to look the worst that Someone is watching over you and has already fought the war for you.  I hope and pray that you are truly blessed this month with God’s holy presence.

Praying Always,

Brother Doug
