June Letter from the Pastor

Dear Church Family and Friends:

Well, we made it through the end of school activities and now it is time to start working for the summer.  Saturday June 5th will be a workday at the church.  The building and grounds committee is trying to accomplish some much needed upkeep and repairs before many of our summer activities begin.  Please come out and assist us in maintaining the House of the Lord.  On June 13th we begin Vacation Bible School and it runs through the 17th.  There will be no Wednesday night services on the 16th and Family Night will be on Thursday, June 17th at 7:30 PM.

Lisa, Jessica, Christopher and I had a wonderful treat and blessing from God when we were able to vacation in Hawaii this past month.  We did many things that required no money, except the required parking fee, and still experienced much of God’s beauty and majesty on the island of Oahu.  We visited the Pearl Harbor Memorial and the Arizona Memorial, we traversed the maze at the Dole Plantation, we hiked up a muddy, wet trail in the middle of the rain forest, we climbed Diamond Head crater and looked out from a bunker to a view across the ocean, we went to several beaches on the island, and we even walked up on a University of Hawaii graduation in the park. Even with all the fun we experienced, it is sure nice to be at home.  And think about it, that will be what we most likely will say when we enter through the Pearly Gates to our mansion in Heaven.  As the great old hymn resonates, “This world is not my home, I’m just a-passin’ through.”  While we are traveling home, let us not forget to pray for our brothers and sisters in need.  May God bless each and every one of you.

Praying Always,

Brother Doug
