November Letter from the Pastor

Dear Church Family and Friends:

November is upon us and 2011 is almost gone! I am amazed at how quickly time sees to fly away. Lisa and I have been here 5 years, out children are 20 and 22 years of age, we have been married 25 years, and now the first child of a grandchild in the Hibbetts family will soon be here, as one of our nephews and his wife are expecting. Time does truly fly when you are having fun.

Speaking of having fun, Iola Fun Day did live up to its name. Getting out and seeing people from the community and the talents of those involved was truly a blessing. Thanks to all who organized, ran, and took part in the festivities. Also, our children’s Fall Festival on Halloween night was a success as the churchyard was full of children, parents, and grandparents most of the night. A big thank you to all the workers involved in pulling this event off.

The search committee is still working on getting a youth director and is poring over the resumes. Please keep them in your prayers. As you may have noticed, we have had different ones lead Sunday morning worship. Skip has prayed about the position and has been led to step away from the worship leader role. Due to this, we now have and even bigger hole to fill for our Sunday morning praises. Please pray for this situation and see if God might be directing you to step up and fill this spot, even on a temporary basis if necessary. Once again, remember the sick and the lost in our community and church family in your prayers. I close with the worlds of a church sign I recently read, “Count your blessings and not your troubles.”

Praying always,

Brother Doug
