Dear Church Family,
On this day that we set apart to remember the death of the Lord Jesus Christ, let me share just a few thoughts with you.
Luke 9:51 says that Jesus”set His face to go to Jerusalem.” The phrase “set His face” could be translated “determined, resolute, steadfast.” Jesus was focused on going up to Jerusalem to die for the sins of the world.
Jesus had already revealed to His disciples the death that He would face there. Luke 9:22 says, “It is necessary that the Son of Man suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, be killed, and be raised the third day.”
Jesus knew that what awaited Him in Jerusalem was suffering and sacrifice.
All that took place on Friday was the plan of God and was a conscious decision on the part of Jesus to walk down the path He knew would end take Him to the cross.
Take some time today to reflect on Jesus’ obedience to the Father’s plan, on the love that Jesus is expressing for His Father and for us, and on the Father’s love for you and me to send His Son to die. Be thankful. Worship.
Love you guys!
