The Journey – Week 16 – Session 2

Mount Arbel is the highest point along the Sea of Galilee. On a clear day, you can see the Via Maris (Way of the Sea) which was the popular trade route in Jesus’ day that ran through Galilee and led travelers to the most powerful nations of the Middle East. From Mount Arbel one could see the world!
It is possible that it was here that Jesus met His disciples after His resurrection. The last time He had spoken to them about creating a movement of multiplication, they were together in the vineyard the night He was arrested. At that time, He spoke to them about vines, branches, and fruit. But this time, He stood in broad daylight with His disciples in His resurrected body and looked at the nations. And He spoke to them words that would change them forever:
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nation, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age” – Matthew 28:19-20.
They had been trained. They knew how to lead people to Christ. They knew how to invest in a few. And in a few days, Jesus would send the Spirit to empower them to ignite a movement that would change the world. They had everything they needed, but they still had to choose. They had to choose to follow Jesus, to live as He lived, and to walk as He walked.
The same thing could be said about us. We have the same Spirit they had. We have the same Word of God they had. We have the same command they had – “Go … and make disciples.” The question remains, “Will we follow Jesus?”
The world is waiting for men and women who will dare to follow Jesus and join Him in His global cause to make disciples of all nations.
There is no greater thrill, no greater reward or satisfaction, than joining Jesus in the greatest cause on earth! And when your life is over, you’ll have lasting fruit to show for your life. Fruit that will remain forever!
How will you join Jesus in His global cause to make disciples of all nations?
